Debbie Neale loves to think of her designs as reflecting the true Australian spirit. She creates them with suns, fun, stars, and music. She’s been drawing her entire life. The artists also worked as a teacher’s aide for 12 years, in secondary and primary schools, and with special education and general education. During this time she noticed that pictures which required colouring in were often directed at the youngest of children, and were simply not challenging enough or interesting enough for older students.
At that point she decided to start sharing her own designs with the children. The kids commend express themselves totally by using any colour scheme they like. If a colouring-in design has patterns, then it’s more challenging and fun. This can help develop motor skills and it’s also quite calming on the child. Her first book, Get Back To Colouring, was created in 2006.
She went a step further and put a downloadable version online in 2008. The world is now privy to her designs and it’s also good for the environment. Click N Color is wonderful and unique. Families or teachers or children themselves can look around the website and see which colouring books and designs they’d love to obtain, and then colour in.
